Certification Program Answers

Which certificate program is best for me?
There are three different certificate programs. Two are Train-the-Trainer programs – one based on Bringing Out the Best in Yourself at Work and the other based on What Type of Leader Are You? – and the third is the "Coaching with the Enneagram" Certificate Program based on Bringing Out the Best in Everyone You Coach. The T-the-T based on Bringing Out the Best in Yourself at Work provides an excellent overview of how to use the Enneagram in organizations in the core business applications. The T-the-T on What Type of Leader Are You? is focused on leadership development with the Enneagram. "Coaching with the Enneagram" is specifically for one-on-one coaching with the Enneagram. As a result, the program that is best for you depends on what you want to do professionally. You can go to Certification Programs to learn more about each program.

Is there a required or preferred order in which to take the certificate programs?
There is no preferred order. People usually take the program that is most aligned with their professional goals first, then often take one or both of the other programs.

What requirements or prerequisites are there for attending the certification programs?
The requirements are simple. Participants must have some experience in one of the following: coaching, training, consulting, management, HR, or the Enneagram. Someone who has no experience in any of these areas might feel overwhelmed to have to learn it all. Experience in one of these areas provides a sufficient anchor on which to learn during the programs.

There is some reading required prior to attending the certification program you select. All participants must read the book upon which the program is based. In addition, participants less familiar with the Enneagram are advised to read one or more of the following Enneagram books: The Essential Enneagram by David Daniels and Virginia Price; Enneatype Structures by Claudio Naranjo; The Enneagram by Helen Palmer; and/or The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Riso and Russ Hudson. These books are listed in alphabetical order by author's last name, not in order of recommendation. Reading any of these books will give participants a sufficient foundation to benefit from for any of the certification programs.

What is the "value" of certification?
The primary value of "certification" is that participants know they have fully completed the entire program. This is a requirement: that there is full attendance and that if anyone has to miss any session, the participant must do an assignment to make up for the missed experience. No participant is allowed to miss more than one full day if they are to receive certification.

Certification also comes with the ability to purchase each training tool at a Train-the-Trainer (or coaching) discount of $6 per tool rather than $9. This T-the-T rate is good for all "training tools," but not for books, which need to be purchased at retail bookstores or online (except for the Enneagram Development Guide which is purchased through our online store).

In addition, certification allows participants to join the Enneagram in Business Network (EIBN), a network of Enneagram-business professionals who are committed to their own personal and professional growth and equally to the development of others in the EIBN

Training Tools Answers

Can I buy the "training tools" if I have not been to any of the certification programs?
Absolutely! Anyone can purchase the "training tools;" however, past participants of the certification programs can purchase "training tools" at a discounted rate ($6 instead of $9).

How do I know which "training tools" are the best for me to buy?
Some people buy a full set of tools for both books – there are two sets of tools – so they can determine the answer for themselves. These are available through the online store as sets or as individual items. Others can find what they want by going to the section on the Public Portal titled Training Materials. Here you can see all "training tools" listed alphabetically, or you can sort them by book or by topic of interest. In all cases, there is a description of the "training tool" and if you scroll over the picture to the right, the picture enlarges to show you a sample of what is inside. Each tool also links directly to the online store. If you start in the store instead of the "Training Materials," you will find links back and forth between the online store and the "Training Materials" section.

How do I learn the activities for the "training tools?"
The best way is to attend a Train-the-Trainer program, where you will learn how to lead over 40 different activities, often using the tools as a stimulus. You not only get to experience the activities yourself, but you also get a complete Trainer's Guide that includes step-by-step instructions, participant handouts (on disc) and powerpoint slides. Although the "training tools" make the activities go faster and deeper, no one is required to buy the "tools."

At the same time, the "training tools" are designed for use by consultants, trainers, coaches, and managers who know the Enneagram well enough and know how to design their own meetings, retreats, or programs already. In other words, create your own activities using the "training tools" as a foundation or stimulus.

In addition, beginning in 2010, every person who orders "training tools" will receive a training activity, for that "tool," one you may have not considered. These mini-activities will change every four months.

How can I find the "training tools" in languages other than English?
These are available in eight languages in addition to English. Information about this can be found at the top of the page Enneagram Training Materials under Enneagram Resources.

Is there a discount for bulk orders?
Bulk discounts may be available for orders of $1000 or more. Please contact the office directly at (310-829-3309) or order@theenneagraminbusiness.com

Ordering and Shipping Answers

Is Federal Express my only choice for shipping?
Within the United States, we only use FedEx because it is reliable and can be tracked. The United States Postal Service (USPS) cannot be tracked and is also much less as reliable. In other words, if the package is late or lost, there is no way of knowing where it is. FedEx ground is the same cost or lower than USPS. Outside North America (Canada and the US), Fed Ex can be expensive. Because of this, we do offer USPS mailing if you call the office (310-829-3309) or e-mail us at order@theenneagraminbusiness.com. If you choose USPS, it takes longer and cannot be tracked.

How long does it take to receive the shipments?
You have several Fed Ex options. Except for FedEx overnight within the US, there is always some variability in delivery time, depending on where it is being sent. Our office is in Santa Monica, California, which is on Pacific Standard time. Please allow 1-2 days for processing your order (weekends excepted). You can order by calling the office, but it is preferable to order online.

I tried to order online but Google Check-out doesn't seem to work. What do I do?
In most cases, Google Check-out does work, but in some cases, it does not. Some servers don't interface well with Google checkout or there may be a credit-card issue. The later is more common with credit cards outside the United States because of credit card protection for you against fraud. You can contact your credit card company and ask them to release your credit card for purchasing or you can order by contacting the office directly (310-829-3309 or order@theenneagraminbusiness.com).
